Rafting on the river Cetina
Last Saturday I went rafting on the river Cetina with my friends from Denmark; although I have tried it many times, I am always impressed with it again.
In and around the town of Omis there are some companies that organize rafting, canyoning and canoeing on the river Cetina. This Saturday we had booked a tour with our new cooperation partner, and so I was thrilled to see if their organization is better than organizing the companies I’ve tried so far.
TIP: The meeting point for ratfing was, in our case, the Radman Mills (Radmanove Mlinice) which are about 6 lm along the river from Omis. Alternatively, it is also possible to meet with the organizers in Omis. Try to ask for the meeting point and time when booking rafting.
At 14:00 we met all at the meeting point, in our case 37 people from Latvia and a few people from other countries. From the meeting point we were transferred by bus to the starting point, 9.5 kilometers along the river; here we got our equipment, life jacket, helmet and paddle and, of course, mandatory safety regulations.
At 15.10 everyone was in the boats and we started our journey. Cetina rafting is divided into three parts, in which the first and third parts are relatively quiet parts while the second part includes the wildest waters. At the beginning our guide gave us a thorough instruction on how to maneuver the boat in different situations.
Having learned to maneuver the raft and follow the commands given by our guide, we started the real rafting, as you can see in the photos here.
INFO: Halfway through the journey there is a passage with a waterfall that for safety reasons it is necessary to leave the boat and follow the path for 200 meters, up to a point below the waterfall. Our new cooperation partner, even if it offers an alternative for those who love a little more excitement, allowed to bring guests to a small cave that leads to the point of restart.
My friends and I, of course, took the “extreme” route through the cave; to enter the cave we had to cross a small lake with only 10 degrees in the water. It was cold, but we all managed to get to the other side and walk through the cave.
When we were all back in the dinghies, we continued further down the river. Here we had entertainment from a Latvian lady who managed not to do what the guide told us with the result that, of course, fell into the water, like us and the dinghy of the other organizer; luckily in both cases, no one was hurt.
At 5.30 pm we stopped to swim and jump from a big rock, after the swim we continued to the final point Isletiste Luka where we arrived at 18:30.
My friends who had their first rafting tour this Saturday were completely impressed, even they asked me to go on Sunday again. Personally I think we had a great trip, not only for rafting, but also for the beautiful nature. Our new cooperation partner was the most professional of those I have tried so far, so I think we have chosen the right one.
